Kilt Pin Brooch

Materials needed
Kilt pin with three loops
Chain
Leaf beads
Cube beads
Crystal bicones 4mm
Crystal bicones 6mm
Metal beads or charms:
Dragonfly wings
Two leaf designs
A round spiral
Headpins
Seed beads size 8
Jump rings
Organza Ribbon in colors

Tips
Secure knots of the ribbon with a little glue to keep them from unraveling. Look around at home from broken pieces of jewelry or odd charms that you can incorporate into your design.

Step One
Take three lengths of organza ribbon and plait. Attach to the kilt pin by knotting and wind in a snake coil fashion around the bottom of the kilt pin bar. Take a small section of chain and drape in looping fashion through the loops in the kilt pin bar, using jump rings to do so.

Step Two
Take a headpin, thread on leaf bead, cut headpin leaving ¼ inch ( 1cm) of wire. Make a loop with round nose pliers and attach to the loop nearest the kilt pin hinge. Count approximately four links of chain and using the same technique, attach a cube bead to the chain. Leave about two three links and attach a metal spiral bead or similar.

Step Three
Take a headpin, thread on a seed bead followed by a 4mm crystal bicone, another seed bead and another 4mm crystal bicone, follow by dragonfly wings and then a 6mm crystal bicone. Add another seed bead and cut headpins as before, making a loop, and attach to a jump ring. Make a space in the coiled ribbon and attach this jump rings with drop to the kilt pin bar approximately equal distance between the first two loops on the kilt pin.

Step Four
Make a cube bead charm as in step four and attach to the chain at the base of where the dragonfly falls. Now take a large leaf charm and attach with a jump ring to centre loop. Attach a smaller leaf charm to the end loop with a jump ring. Now count down two links and make another leaf charm as in step three. Count another five links and attach a cube charm as before. To finish make drop with 6mm and 4mm Crystal and attach to the end loop of kilt pin.
