Jewelry Project
A necklace design suited to highlighting special focal beads
Materials Needed
2 Large Oval Feature beads (2cm x 1.5cm)
6mm Crystal beads
4mm Crystal beads
Silver seed beads size 8
Lobster Clasps
Jump Ring
Head Pins
1m Nylon-Coated Wire
Tips
A simple necklace design best suited to showcase your very favorite focal beads.
Using seed beads and spaced crystal makes this design economical to make whilst drawing attention to the centre pendant drop.
Step 1
Thread 1 crystal and 1 large oval bead onto a head pin then cut the head pin to leave ¼inch of wire. Make a loop with round nose pliers. This forms the pendant part of the necklace.
Step 2
Thread the pendant onto the centre of the nylon-coated wire. Holding both ends of the wire together, thread on 3 silver-plated seed beads and a 6mm crystal, then separate to wire.
Step 3
On one wire thread 8 silver-plated seed beads, one 6mm crystal and then 8 silver-plated seed bead, and one 6mm crystal.
Step 4
On the other wire – follow Step 3.
Step 5
Now thread both wires through the second large oval Square feature bead from opposite directions (similar to action of lacing a shoe).
Step 6
On each wire thread 8 silver-plated seed beads and then a 6mm crystal. Repeat this step 4 more times.
Step 7
On each wire thread 8 silver-plated seed beads and 4mm crystal. Repeat 4 more times. Then thread 8 silver seed beads to complete the pattern.
Step 8
Thread one wire through a crimp bead, then thread on one jump ring. Form a loop that holds the jump ring, thread the wire back through the crimp bead and squeeze the crimp bead closed. Follow this process for both wires.
Step 9
Twist one jump ring open and attach the lobster clasp, then close the jump ring.
